| Should I use image compression?
|
Image compression is subjective to the application. If the purpose of saving an image is to post it to a web site, e-mail it to a colleague, or just use the image for visualization purposes only, then by all means use compression. On the other hand, if you are using this image as corroboration to a data set, then DO NOT compress. Compressing an image changes the original pixel data. While it may not be apparent to the naked eye, it will be observed by an image analysis program.
