Digital Camera - Roper Scientifics' CoolSnap hq, a 12 bit monochrome camera with a resolution of 1392 x 1040 pixels and exceptional sensitivity in all wavelengths.

Computer - The latest Intel processor with 1 GB of RAM, 17" flat panel LCD display, 60 GB hard drive, DVD Burner, CD-RW and Windows 2000.

Software - Media Cybernetic's Image-Pro Plus the industries leading image analysis software, Scope-Pro for precise control of your computer automated microscope, SharpStack allows you to create deconvolved images from your stack of fluorescence images, 3D Constructor will build a 3 dimensional model of the deconvolved image stack and AFA (Advance Fluorescence Acquisition) for the management and control of all your image stacks.

System Description

Image-Pro - controls the image acquistion, exposure times, gain and binning capabilities of the CoolSnap hq. Image-Pro also implements the automated particle counting, measurements, processing and image enhancements. More info...

Scope-Pro - controls the automated mechanics of the microscope by adjusting the focus for acquiring multiple 'Z' planes, changing the shutter to reduce photo-bleaching, moving the x and y location of the stage for tiling multiple images together and changing objective for high magnification. More info...

Pig cerebellum image deconvolved using the inverse filter algorithm in SharpStack

SharpStack - The budget conscious Confocal microscope alternative. This takes the 'Z' stack created with Scope-Pro and removes the "haze" and out of focus artifacts present in fluorescence images. See example above. More info...

3D Constructor - Generate 3 dimensional images of the deconvolved 'Z' stack images. 3D Constructor gives you the capability to create 3D animations and save the animation as an AVI file for playback in PowerPoint, Windows Media Player or QuickTime. Click on the 3D image above to see a sample of the animation playback capability. More info...

AFA - Advanced Fluorescence Acquisition is the image manager and nerve center for the Scope-Pro and SharpStack. AFA keeps the image location and other relevant information  required to sift through the quantitative data and provide qualitative results. More info...
